What is Digital Selling?

Digital selling is a growing topic. It is all around us. Digital selling covers a broad spectrum. Many people want to sell digital products. They may be interested in selling digital downloads or they may want to sell digital art. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Many corporations are transitioning their sales process to the digital world. While they may not include digital selling within their entire sales process, many areas of the sales process are being transitioned to digital.

Cold calling for example is one of those areas in transition. For those that are new to the field of sales, you may be asking, what is cold calling?

 

The meaning of cold calling is making a connection with someone, usually a phone call, where neither party has ever met. Many people want to know how to be good at cold calling, but do not know where to start. This is because cold calling means everything in sales. How do you meet new people or new clients if you do not make a cold call? What if you could make that call after you are more familiar with them and they are familiar with you. You may even be “virtually” referred by a friend.

Cold calling is just one area of the sales process that is being replaced digitally. In many cases, the entire sales process can be completed digitally, saving time, resources, and reaching a larger client list. There is some overlap between digital selling and digital marketing

 

Digital marketing is focused on obtaining leads, while digital selling is focused on obtaining leads and closing a sale.
